HEPA Filters
Getting The Best Hepa Air Cleaners

Hepa filters were designed during the Second World War to prevent radioactive particles from being discharged through the exhausts of nuclear facilities. Hepa is an acronym for high - efficiency particle air filters and this purifiers have become a vital part of modern technology. They are used in hospitals, businesses and home to help clean and purify the air, making it safe to breathe. HEPA stands for High Energy Particulate Air and are by far the best of modern air filtration systems. HEPA air cleaners using single filters can suck out more then 99% of dust, microscopic critters, smoke particles, and other irritants bigger than 0.00001 inches across (about 200 times smaller than the width of a human hair). Systems using multiple filters are even more effective. This filter technology were developed during World War II to clean the air of radioactive dust, and they've only gotten better since, so they're ideal for almost any home air purifier. Air cleaner units with hepa filtration systems will strain out just about every particle of:

  • dust
  • pollen
  • mold
  • bacteria
  • pet dander
  • smoke

Air is air, isn't it?

Not necessarily. City air may contain commercial pollution, while country air is rife with dust and pollen. Add to that pet dander, mold, the products of outgassing in construction materials, cooking and smoking, and a whole litany of other factors, and it's easy to see that in many cases, indoor air quality isn't so good. Just because you can't see the bad stuff doesn't mean it's not there -- and if it's there, it's getting into your lungs. That's why most homes could use a decent air purifier or filtration system.

Should you go HEPA?

If you're serious about air quality in your home, and you haven't already gone HEPA, you should. No other filtration system even comes close to HEPA quality. As long as they're kept clean and the filters are replaced regularly, purifiers with HEPA air filters can sieve just about every iota of junk out of your breathing supply. If you want to go that extra step, it's also a good idea to invest in HEPA furnace filters. High-quality furnace air filters, while pricey, last a long time, are easily cleaned, and can make a real difference in indoor air quality.
